Price Quotes and Other Information

How can I get a quote for my commission?

Contact me at the above email address and provide the following information:

1) Your name (this does not have to be your legal name; you can provide me with a “fan” name as well for this stage)

2) Email address

3) Commission Description (Please be as thorough as possible with colors, fabric preferences, etc.  If you have illustrations and/or drawings for me to use as reference, please send them to me with your request, along with a clear description of what pieces are and are not a part of your commission.)

4) Commission deadline (when you need your commission delivered to you, especially if your commission is for a specific convention, wedding, or other event)

5) Other miscellaneous details (any other information you need to tell me about the commission)

What happens then?

I will review your commission request and respond via email.  Once we agree upon the details and haggle (if possible) on the price, then I will send you a final invoice for the full price of your commission, less shipping.  I require a payment of half of the total before I will start my work.  Payment can be sent via Paypal or by money order.  I also require you to complete my measurement form before I can start my work.

Is there anything else you need of me?

I ask that my commissioners stay in contact with me and respond to my emails promptly, especially once the sewing process has begun since I may need clarification on a part of your commission or some additional measurements.

How do you figure out the price of my commission?

Pricing will depend upon the amount of work you are requesting.  There are two kinds of work I can do:

--The first consists of complete pieces of clothing.  This means that if it looks like the character is wearing multiple layers of clothing then you too will be wearing layers of clothing.  This will result in a realistic garment or set of garments.

--The second comprises a single garment sewn to look like it's multiple layers of clothing.

An example of both of these types is a bodice and chemise.  With the first method, you are requesting a full chemise (i.e. a separate shirt) and bodice.  With the second method, you will be ordering a bodice with sleeves sewn to it.

The more work and fabric which goes into creating your clothing, the higher the cost.  Also, the higher the quality of fabric you want used to create your commission, the higher the overall cost.  Sometimes a less expensive fabric can be used and I will do my best to reduce your cost as much as possible.  However, sometimes a more expensive cloth needs to be used to maintain the quality of the garment.  For example, a customer orders a skirt and cloak.  If I used an inexpensive, lightweight cotton for the cloak, it would most likely catch on the skirt and ride up instead of flowing out behind so I would look for a silkier or heavier material which would most likely be a bit more expensive.

I have my own fabric or want you to match clothing I already have.  Is that okay?

Yes.  If you already have the fabric you would like me to use, please let me know and I will adjust the price of your commission.  If you already own the fabric, please send me the total yardage you own AND the full width of the fabric.  I can only use your fabric for your commission if you provide sufficient yardage (i.e. I can’t make a cloak if you only have a yard of fabric *smiles*).  If you are going to purchase the fabric, please wait until I give you the final measurements so we make sure you buy enough to complete the project.  Please also be aware that if you want your extra fabric returned, this will increase the final cost of shipping.  If you want to purchase fabric on your own, this does not necessarily make your commission cheaper overall, especially since you will have to pay shipping to send the fabric to me.

If you need me to use a specific type/make/color of fabric (for instance, if you need me to match another article of clothing you own), please provide me with all the necessary information to order this fabric myself (or you can order it yourself and have it shipped directly to me – though only do this AFTER I give you to total yardage I will need).

Can you send fabric swatches?

If you are worried that I may choose the wrong color, weight, or texture of fabric or if you’re just plain curious, I can send fabric swatches of my selections at no additional charge.

What measurements do you need?

Below is a chart and a picture (located after the chart) of the measurements I need for most commissions.  Please note that for some commissions, I will not need all of these measurements.  For instance, if you are just ordering a skirt, I should just need the measurements for the lower torso and the legs.  However, please ask me for clarification first. *smiles*

MEASUREMENTS NEEDED:

Please stand up straight but relaxed when taking the measurements.  It is recommended that you wear as little clothing as possible during the measuring process since your clothing can add to the measurements.  For women, please wear the bra you will be wearing with your garment to get an accurate bust measurement (if you're not going to be wearing any support, please measure yourself that way).

When measuring, keep the measuring tape loose but flat against your skin.  Do not pull the tape tight.  If your measurement has 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 inch measurements, give me these exact measurements.  Some items need exact measurements to fit properly.  Never drop or increase these fractions since this could result in a garment being too small/short or too big/long.

Circumferences:
These measurements are taken around the widest part of the limb or around the specific area of the body indicated.

A. neck
B. upper arm
C. forearm
D. wrist
E. bust (at nipple level)
F. chest (just below breasts)
G. natural waist (above hip bones)
H. pseudo-waist (for skirts/pants worn below natural waist)
I. hips (around widest part, including buttocks)
J. thigh
K. calf

Lengths:
These measurements are taken between the two points indicated.  Please note that many of these are taken along the same line so the measuring tape can be drawn once and the measurements done at the same time.

1. jawline (in front) to base of throat (the notch just above the collarbones)
2. base of throat to waist
3. base of throat to knees
4. base of throat to floor
5. hairline (in back at base of skull) to the base of the neck
6. base of neck (in back) to waist
7. base of neck (in back) to knees
8. base of neck (in back) to floor
9. base of neck (side) to elbow (with arms hanging down)
10. base of neck (side) to wrist (arms down)
11. point of shoulder (where the arm and body connect) to elbow (arms down)
12. point of shoulder to wrist
13. underarm (a couple inches below the armpit - where the top of your bra comes to) to waist
14. waist to knee (measure along outside of leg)
15. waist to floor (measure along outside of leg)
16. inseam #1 (crotch to knee) (measure along the inside of the leg)
17. inseam #2 (crotch to floor) (measure along the inside of the leg)

NOTE about waist measurement:  The waist measurement should be taken where the waistline of a normal (i.e. not low riders) pair of pants would be worn.  A good way to find this is to wrap a piece of string/yarn/etc. around your midsection (near the point indicated on the drawing); the string should roll into the narrowest part of you as you move around a bit.  If a pair of pants or skirt is going to be worn low on the hips, please make a note of that in your description.  If, due to a large belly, you wear your pants low naturally, please make a note of this in your description as well.

Do you offer any sort of guarantee?

Yes, though I require one of you in return.

My guarantee:

1) I can allow you one free set of minor alterations (you must pay additional shipping prices, though).  "Minor alterations" include minor adjustments to hems which do not require reconstruction of the garment (i.e. please don't get a 4-inch growth spurt during garment construction).

2) Any significant changes to the commission, however, will result in additional charges.  "Significant changes" include color change, change of fabric choice, complete change in character, costume redesign, and construction of additional costume pieces.
3) You have my guarantee ONLY that the work will be done on time and to the best of my ability.  If there is something I can't do, then I will let you know and adjust your cost accordingly.
4) Pictures can be provided of the work in progress and the final garments while they are in my possession.

Your guarantee:
1) To pay half of estimated total up front (via Paypal, money order, or cash [US dollars])
2) To provide me with any reference materials needed, and to acknowledge that the reference materials may not show the character from all angles so some guesses on both my part and yours will be necessary and agreed upon in writing.

3) To respond in a timely manner to all email correspondence.  Any delay in replying to my emails can result in your commission likewise being delayed.
3) To pay the final portion owed for the completed commission prior to shipping.
4) To wear this commission and send me pictures so I can add it to my portfolio!
