Who am I?

Isn’t that a question we all ask ourselves? *grins*

My name is Jenn and I’ve been sewing all of my life. My mom does some upholstery and clothing, as well as all of my Halloween costumes as I was growing up (until high school when I figured I was old enough to make my own costumes *smiles*). My first serious project was a Renaissance Faire outfit I decided to make the day before I was supposed to go. (Brilliant, I know…) However, using the SCA guidelines, the outfit was completed by 3am (thank you, Mom!), and while I was at the Faire, one of the organizers (friend to one of the people I was attending with) complemented me on my ensemble and said that it was the most realistic period costume he’d ever seen. This was an absolute highlight of my visit to the Faire since I know that the SCA is very particular about such things. I later went on to sew outfits or pieces of outfits for my friends who were also attending the Faire.

Come to the present… I had been seeing a surge in the amount of sewing I was doing for both myself and friends, finally asked my friends if they could pay for my work, and was encouraged to open my own business to make everything official. So here I am! *smiles*

Who am I outside of sewing? I love scifi, fantasy, horror, and anime. I was raised on Star Trek, Star Wars, and The Twilight Zone, if that’s any indication. I also love animals, especially cats. I love reading, writing, watching movies, and going for hikes and picnics. I also love dance and music of all kinds. My favorite music is 80’s New Wave or alternative – Devo, The Cure, Depeche Mode, etc. My all-time favorite band is a-ha. My other favorites are Polysics, The Aquabats, The Doors, The Beatles, She Wants Revenge, Soul Coughing, The Hives, Eagles of Death Metal, and The Dresden Dolls, to name a very few. (My choices are limited to what I can think of off the top of my head. As soon as I post this webpage, I’m sure I’ll remember a ton more. But feel free to ask if you have a favorite band as well! I love listening to new stuff!) Favorite movies/TV shows include Star Wars, Star Trek (TOS and TNG especially), The Last Unicorn, But I’m A Cheerleader, The Eye, Cadfael series, Project Runway, Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, Love Hina, Fruits Basket, Karin, Gatchaman, Ever After, Kamikaze Girls, and this list can go on forever as well. (Feel free to let me know your favorites too!) I also collect comic books. My life-long favorite has always been the X-men, though I have a number of other comics in my collection as well, including Mouse Guard.

I am from Southern California, but I currently reside in New England.

Oh, and I’m a girl, if that makes any difference. *grins*
